This blog is our plea of help, our shout into the void; one fandom turning to its distant cousins for help. Yup. We're desperate. This isn't a Community blog. This is our blog. So stay a while, and help us help you to help us (to help you) (to help us). twitter.

why the panic?

Hey. Hi. You’ve probably heard of us. You probably know us as ‘that fandom’.

Oh… you don’t? … Alright. Never mind.

Here’s the thing: we’re scared. Shitless. And I’m going to explain to you why. (Here’s another post explaning stuff very nicely, thank you Tara.)

Last year, the show almost got cancelled. Halfway through season 3, the powers that be just decided that it wasn’t worth the trouble. Why? Because Community fans are webbers. We don’t count for views; apparently, we don’t count as people to them (bastards), so they just assumed the show didn’t have a fanbase and stopped airing it.

Of course, we made noise. We had petitions, rallies, protests, meet ups and just went crazy- it worked, too! They aired the rest of the season and we rejoiced and cried and… well, watched the rest of the season.

But then they fired the creator of the show.

‘Oh, that sucks,’ you say, but you don’t understand. Dan Harmon is a genius. And I’m not saying that because he created the show and we love it- no. He is an actual genius. You just have to see his story circle, or listen to his (drunken, sure, but no less genius) ramblings on Harmontown, his podcast, to understand that. Oh, and watch the show.

So yeah. They took away Dan Harmon, the heart of the show, and then we weren’t even sure if we were going to get a new season, or if we even wanted it.

But then we did, it got renewed- but only for thirteen episodes. And those could be the final episodes.

Of course, we were freaking out. This show is kind of our home.

The new season was supposed to come out on October 19th, but then ONE WEEK BEFOREHAND we got told that it was indefinitely postponed. Perhaps you can imagine our rage and frustration. Raaage.

(Of course, our perfect cast made a perfect video and I’m never over it because look how perfect I’m not overreacting that’s not the kind of thing I do!!!)

So, it premiered February 7th, and we’ve all got our own opinions. Maybe it’s better, maybe it’s worse- but it is our home.

So this is us, making some noise.

Help us.

Begging is not off the table.

HELP US.

It’s viewers that NBC seem to worry about, even though this show (and I’m not exaggerating) should just be off-limits to that kind of bargaining because Community is just above everything. That may not make sense to you now- but it’s perfect. It’s the perfect show. OK, I said it. Hate me. But don’t hate the show. Watch it.

More specifically, watch it live on Thursday nights on NBC.

Also, if you want to help out any other way, you can always buy the DVDs and all the super-cool merchandise in the NBC store.

So, there you have it. That was my side of the story. Our side of the story.

Go make your own.

Help us.
